Get to know the owner

Javier Ledesma owner of Ledesma Financial Services

I’ve been proudly serving the financial needs of businesses for over 40 years. My journey began in 1981 when I started in the tax business, focusing on supporting businesses with their financial needs. After 27 years as an independent franchisee with Jackson Hewitt, I returned to operating my own firm, Ledesma Financial Services LLC, where I specialize in services for businesses, including bookkeeping, payroll, S and C corporation tax returns, partnership tax returns, and financial planning. Additionally, I provide expertise in life insurance, retirement rollovers, and annuities, helping clients secure their financial futures.

I earned my BBA from Southwest Texas State University in 1981, and I’m proud to be a distinguished alumnus of San Marcos High School. I’ve always been active in my community, whether through my involvement at St. John’s Catholic Church, where I’ve served on the finance council and led various initiatives, or through my work with the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations.

When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy traveling with my family, visiting historical sites, and getting in a round of golf when I can. It’s been an honor to serve the San Marcos community, and I look forward to continuing to provide the trusted financial guidance my clients have come to rely on.

Questions and Answers:

  • What makes you different?
Answer: We focus on tax strategies, not just tax preparation. While tax preparation is about filing your taxes, tax strategies involve proactive planning to leverage the IRS tax code and identify opportunities to save money, reduce liabilities, and build wealth.
  • What do tax strategies consist of?
Answer: Tax strategies involve analyzing your financial situation to identify ways to minimize your tax burden. This includes utilizing IRS tax codes, exploring available deductions, credits, and legal loopholes, and implementing long-term plans to optimize savings while remaining compliant.
  • What kind of benefits can I get from tax savings?
Answer: Effective tax strategies allow you to keep more of your money, reduce taxes owed to the IRS, and free up resources to invest in building wealth for both your business and personal life.
  • What do I need to bring for a tax strategy session?
Answer: Bring a copy of last year’s tax return and a forecast of your current year’s income and expenses. Having these documents ready helps us assess your current situation and create a customized tax strategy plan.
  • What other services do you provide?
Answer: In addition to tax planning and strategies, we offer business formation services to help you choose and set up the right entity for your business. We also provide payroll management, bookkeeping, insurance, retirement planning, and ongoing tax preparation services.
  • When are 1099s and W-2s due?
Answer: Both 1099s and W-2s are due by January 31 each year.i
  • If I request an extension for my personal tax return, do I still have to pay the IRS if I owe?
Answer: Yes. Requesting an extension only gives you more time to file your return, not to pay. If you owe taxes, it’s important to make an estimated payment by the original due date to avoid penalties and interest. A good rule of thumb is to pay at least as much as you owed the previous year.
  • Can you help me with prior penalties on my business tax return?
Answer: Yes, we can work with the IRS to request penalty relief, particularly if this is the first time you’re requesting it. We’ll guide you through the process and ensure you meet the necessary criteria.
  • What do you charge?
Answer: We offer a free 30-minute consultation to assess your needs and determine the best plan of action for your business or personal finances.
